One of the coolest things about the decor at 1131 Bar + Kitchen is the retractable sun-roof. It’s a chill space while it’s open, with a gentle breeze ruffling the leaves on the giant wall garden, and sunlight marking its territory across tables. The slow transition from day to evening, marked by a definitive whirr of the roof sliding back into place, sees more people trickling in. Come sunset, the music turns up just a notch, the funky bulbs with their changing hues come on, and the bar gets livelier in a flash. This resto-bar isn’t just another drinking joint.
The street-side seating affords a great view of 100ft Road to lose oneself in contemplative thought. Beakers full of Red Giant are passed around the table, groups nestled in the corners share the unputdownable Calzone al Forno, while gangs are glued to the live sports games being screened – all this while Head Chef Umesh makes sure orders are flying out in record time.
